How do you make a french memo board?

my friend has a french memo board and i fell in love with it. i want one, but most of them are old ladyish,(i think) so i want to personalize it myself. I need step by step instructions, and a list of materials.thx|||Ok, get a piece of thin plywood whatever size you want the french board...get a piece of "Batting" (you can find this at a fabric store.) While your there pick out the fabric you like a few inches on each side longer than your plywood. Also pick up cute buttons to match your fabric, and Satin ribbon thick as you like (pref about the width of quarter of an inch...

1. Lay down the plywood

2. put batting down, and cut it a few inches (all around) larger then the plywood.

3. wrap the batting around the back of the plywood and use a staple gun and staple it to the back of the plywood..don't pull tooo tight or you'll loose the fluffiness a french board has..

4. repeat with your fabric. it should be stabled to the back of the plywood and cover the front seamlessly.

5..now some people sew...but I'm a cheater :) so I lay out my ribbon in a criss cross pattern and staple down (on the front) of the french board where ever two ribbons cross.

6. Staple the loose ribbons around the back to give them a finished look...

7. Use a hot glue gun and glue the buttons over the stapled spots with the ribbon (Told you, I like short cuts) That hides the staples!!!

8. On the back get some picture frame hooks and now hook your totally unique French Memo Board anywhere you need!!!

Good Luck!!
