When I suggested that the Principal talk to another person who was present to verify what happened, the Principal refused. This is a private school. They also owe me about 2 months salary. I want to request that they revise the memo, leaving out specifics of what happened in my classroom. This memo was distributed to security, teachers and assistants who did not need to know the specifics of what happened. Stating a procedure for staff to follow in the event it happens again is one thing, but not specific events.|||You seem to have contradicted yourself here. You said in the main question they were untrue statements, and yet you mention they are just specifics of a case. This may be an ethical issue, or against school policy, but there are no legal rights that have been violated.|||I am not contradicting myself. Example -an employee calls long distance about a relative with AIDS without applying it to their personal account. A memo may be circulated reminding employees to use the appropriate account number. Stating the person who made the call and why is not necessary.

My guess is that he SHOULD have kept details out, but that there is no legal requirement to do so. Your legal claim won't get far, unless it was something really terrible (child molestation, etc.), AND incorrect.
You say he made an untrue statement, but didn't say what that untrue statement was...
