How to write a memo about terminating employment if caught stealing from company?

Well, I was just promoted and was asked to type up a memo about terminating employment if caught stealing or taking home office supplies. Can someone please help out?|||Be gentle but firm.

Due to the present economic circumstances, this company is finding it necessary to evaluate all our spending. and to reduce costs wherever possible.

A recent review of our expenditures for stationery and office supplies has shown us that our costs have risen significantly and, as a result we are funding it necessary to monitor usage and waste.

You are being requested to take no more than you absolutely need. Copy paper is not to be used for personal use, and expendable supplies such as pens, notebooks, etc are no longer to be taken home for personal use.. This policy is effective immediately, and violation of this policy may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.

If you have any questions please see me.|||You may wish to consult with your attorney. Many times people in positions of authority take work home to do rather than remaining at work for ungodly hours. So you don't want to take work home if it could be seen as taking supplies home and you should not be subsidizing the company.

I might writing that "Employees taking company supplies for personal use is theft and would be grounds for immediate termination and you acknowledge and confirm that understanding. Make sure it is company supplies taken for personal use or non-business use in case you ever feel you have to take work home. With few exceptions we have at-will employment and management can end it or you can end it. Just don't write yourself into a hole if you do take work home or take an office laptop to do work on. You need to know the rules on use of computers, etc. If someone sends you personal email at work what is the policy? Can you check personal email at lunch or on a break?

Good luck to you. I have heard of them having you sign some things like non-compete but to have you write something like that is dirt of insulting.|||It probably should be just a memo about how wrong it is to steal anything. How you have no intention of taking any supplies or material that belong to the company. To mention that people have the right positive attitude and staying honest. How right it is to bring yourself to work and do what is asked of you. You have no use to take any values from working at your company. I have never taken any thing from any place I have ever worked and have no intention to ever do so. If I have been stealing or taking home office supplies you have every right to give me termination of employment. I think your management may ask this of all employees. short sweet and simple.|||This is 101 stuff.

"To all employees: Anyone caught stealing company property of any kind will be terminated and face legal action. Anyone who does not report their witnessing of such an event will also be terminated and may face legal action in accordance with the law."
